The open air museum is situated in a picturesque region of the Balkan Mountains, 8 km away from Gabrovo. It stretches along the river of Sivek, left feeder of the river Yantra. ETAR is the first museum in Bulgaria of Skansen type a new form of presenting the historic past, economic development, the way of living and the Renaissance architecture and techniques. The museum exposition stretches out on an area of 7 hectares, featuring the unique atmosphere of times bygone - genuine houses, craftsmen workshops, water driven technical facilities , flamboyant pottery and rugs, exquisite wood carvings, fine silver jewellery.
